I’m learning through my clients that there are actually gifts within this pandemic. We really have to search for them, but they are there.
I urge you to search for these gifts, even though I know it’s hard.
Feeling as if life is less hectic
Some of my clients and myself are noticing that life feels a lot less hectic without the daily commute to and from work. Also, we are not balancing our time on the weekends because there are less places to go. For example, not dropping off our kids from activity to activity.
We are forced to be home with our family
My clients always tell me, “the most important thing in my life is my family”, however, we get so wrapped up in ‘doing’ that it can be hard to find time for the people we love the most. Thus, it is a beautiful thing that we now have been given the opportunity to put our family first instead of our to-do lists. We should relish in this opportunity because one day this pandemic will be over. We want to avoid the feeling of, “shoot, I had the time to enjoy spending time with my family and I still didn’t do it”.
Connecting more with our romantic partners
People are having more sex! When we were not forced to be in our homes, we would go to work, commute home, make dinner, play with our children, put them to bed… etc. This would, understandably, lead to exhaustion. However, some of these factors are now out of the picture and I am noticing with my clients that they feel less exhausted, which leads to more sex between romantic partners.
This is why we have been seeing so many ‘covid babies’, which is a good thing!
Research shows that when couples have sex once a week, they are more happy overall! If couples are having sex more than once a week, then they are even happier.
Money
A lot of us are losing money, those who own a small business, were laid off or working less. However, we are also spending less. For example, we are not spending money on date nights, bars, travel… etc. I am noticing with my clients that they have a bit more money than they did before. I suggest investing in your health and wellbeing, whatever that looks like for you.
Some examples:
- Investing in bubble bath and bath bombs
- Investing in a yoga mat
- Investing in vitamins
- Investing in therapy
