Varying family dynamics can lead to a host of challenges when it comes to building trusting relationships.
Whether a problem appears to be within an individual or within a family, getting other family members involved in the therapeutic process will result in more effective solutions.
Family therapy is a positive way to increase bonding between family members, overcome adversity and challenges and create more positive interactions.
Family therapy can help with a number of life’s challenges that can include:
Marital and couple conflict, parent and child conflict, addictions issues, sibling rivalry, sexual dysfunction, grief, distress, eating disorders, children’s behavioural problems, and issues with eldercare, such as coping with a parent’s or grandparent’s dementia. Our therapists also work with mental-health issues such as a family member’s depression or anxiety, and the impact these issues have on the rest of the family.
Our goal is to help identify patterns, concerns, and needs of each individual in order to find ways to strengthen the family as a whole. By first working to deescalate the negative cycle of interaction in the family, the therapist will be able to support family members in discovering deeper feelings, and removing obstacles that prevent vulnerability. Together the family and therapist focus on how they can work to restructure this cycle to create more positive interactions and a deeper level of connectedness.
