It can often be challenging feeling as though you are alone in your thoughts, worrying about the future, feeling trapped in painful patterns or emotions or feeling stuck about which direction to take. Having the courage and hope to ask for help is the first step in creating change and growth in yourself.

My role as a therapist is to provide you with a safe outlet to express your vulnerabilities, to listen to you share your story with empathy and validation, to identify your strengths and empower you to build a quality of life that you desire. I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches in order to get to the root cause of anxieties, traumas and interpersonal conflicts. I firmly believe in collaboration and teamwork. I am flexible and accommodating to my clients.

In addition, I strive to create a warm and compassionate environment, one that fosters strong therapeutic rapport and is non-judgemental.  Trust, empathy and communication are essential ingredients to creating a safe place for change. Building on your strengths and resiliency is very important in fostering client strength and motivation. I am very passionate about my work as a therapist and working with you to help you evolve and grow into the person you want to be.

Denise is a Registered Psychotherapist and a Yorkville University graduate with a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology.  She has training in EMDR and DBT-Intensive. Before becoming part of the Toronto Neurofeedback and Psychotherapy Centre team, Denise was providing individual and family therapy to adolescents struggling with a variety of high-risk behaviours, including substance use, self-harming and suicide ideation, trauma and PTSD.  She has also volunteered at the Toronto Distress Centre providing support and crisis interventions for clients in distress. In addition, she has worked at multiple clinics working and supporting adults with anxiety, depression, chronic pain and motor vehicle accidents.
